  • SomaliREN Annual Meeting!

From February 13–15, 2026, member institutions of the Somali Research and Education Network (SomaliREN) gathered for their highly anticipated annual meeting to chart a course for academic excellence and digital transformation.

Kismayo University was proudly represented at the forum by a senior delegation led by the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdi Adam, and the Head of International Relations, Mr. Bashir Mohamed Hashi.

Key Areas of Focus

The three-day summit served as a collaborative hub for university leaders to address the evolving landscape of academia. The discussions centered on several high-priority pillars:

  • Advancing Higher Education: Developing modern curricula and pedagogical standards to meet international benchmarks.
  • Academic Collaboration: Strengthening the bonds between Somali universities to foster resource sharing and faculty exchange.
  • Digital Infrastructure: Enhancing digital services and e-learning platforms to bridge the technological gap in education.
  • Research Funding: Identifying and securing new investment opportunities to empower local researchers and innovators.

Looking Ahead: A Vision for Quality

The meeting concluded with a series of strategic agreements aimed at solidifying future cooperation. By aligning their efforts, the participating universities—including Kismayo University—are committed to elevating the quality of education and research outputs across the region.

“This gathering represents a vital step toward a unified and technologically advanced educational system that can compete on a global scale.”

Kismayo University remains dedicated to implementing the outcomes of this summit, ensuring our students and faculty benefit from the latest advancements in the academic sector.
